Partially Accommodative Esotropia Manifesting as Cyclic Esotropia: A Case Study

چکیده
Purpose: Cyclic esotropia is a rare disease with alternating cycles of recurrent that has been reported after strabismus surgery, head trauma, and psychological stress. We report patient who presented accommodative deteriorated to cyclic was managed successfully.Case Summary: A 2-year-old girl no previous ophthalmological or neurological illnesses esotropia. The alternate prism cover test showed 16 diopters (PD) during distance near fixation, cycloplegic refraction +2.00 (D) right eye +1.50 D left eye. Under the impression esotropia, she prescribed glasses fully correct her refraction. Nine months later, 14 PD hyperopic correction. Her parents also complained had ‘non-squinting’ ‘squinting’ days. history clinical findings suggested asked start daily diary documenting presence absence squint. This revealed alternated on 24-hour cycle. With diagnosis underwent medial rectus recession. Postoperatively, angle esodeviation improved orthotropia (near distance) stereoacuity restored; this maintained at 1-year follow-up.Conclusions: squint in patients complain even correction, important. often responds well surgical management.

Botulinum toxin type A as treatment of partially accommodative esotropia.
OBJECTIVE To determine the effectiveness of a botulinum toxin type A injection in both medial rectus muscles in patients with partially accommodative esotropia. Residual deviation and stability of strabismus were evaluated at 18 months follow up. METHOD A prospective, analytical, quasi-experimental study was conducted on a cohort of 21 patients who underwent total cycloplegic refraction and w...
متن کاملLong-term study of accommodative esotropia.
PURPOSE Previous studies of accommodative esotropia have been hampered by bias-prone methods of data collection and analysis and by small sample size. The studies have conflicting conclusions, causing uncertain results. This study aims to determine long-term results of standard treatment of accommodative esotropia and identify predictors of outcome, while minimizing bias in data collection and ...

purpose: to determine the surgical results of partially accommodative esotropia (paet). methods: thirty-eight patients with paet scheduled for surgery from 2002 to 2008 were enrolled in a descriptive, analytic retrospective study. patient characteristics including age, gender, refractive error, visual acuity, pre and post operative deviation, technique of surgery and follow up duration were rec...
متن کاملLong-term surgical outcome of partially accommodative esotropia.
Partially accommodative esotropia is an acquired strabismus characterized by high hyperopia, a normal AC/A ratio, and a deviation that responds only partially to spectacle correction. Surgery is done for the non-accommodative portion of the deviation. Over-corrections are managed by reducing the hyperopic power of the spectacles. This retrospective study was done to determine the risk factors f...

Purpose. To investigate the psychophysiologic aspects of refractive accommodative esotropia (RAE). Methods. I prospectively recruited patients aged 3-6 years with more than 3.0 diopters of hyperopia who presented at Kim's Eye Hospital from January 2011 to March 2013. I compared Korean Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL) which consists of internalizing factors (social withdrawal, somatic complaint...
